Welcome to my law office. As an experienced Colorado criminal defense lawyer for the western slope, I designed my law practice to not only provide effective representation, but representation which is aggressive, yet compassionate. I cover a wide range of counties and jurisdictions including but not limited to: Garfield County, Mesa County (serving Grand Junction, Fruita, and Palisade), Delta County, Montrose County, La Plata County, Montezuma County, and other surrounding areas.
I came to the Western Slope after spending a number of years on the front range of Colorado as a Deputy Public Defender. Having handled a wide range of cases from misdemeanor traffic offenses such as DUI to the most serious of cases such as first degree murder, I have over 10 years experience fighting on behalf of the criminally accused. My work with the Colorado State Public Defenders Office continued after moving to the Western Slope. I represented the criminally accused, handling a full gamut of cases, which included domestic violence, sex offenses, theft, burglary, harassment, violation of court orders, drugs, assault, conspiracy, menacing, vehicular eluding, juvenile, and other offenses classified as traffic, misdemeanors, and felonies.
I am an active member in the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Colorado Bar Association. I also participate in the Alternate Defense Counsel representing indigent clients. I strongly believe in the pursuit of continuing legal education to keep my skills sharp and to stay abreast of the changes in the law which will make me better equipped to protect and represent you.
I approach my cases with a dedicated work ethic coupled with compassion, understanding the fear of being caught up in a system that often appears cold and uncaring. I carry with me a statement I once heard from a judge who instructed the jury prior to a trial, "the walk from the jury box in which you sit or the walk from the bench in which I sit is a short one to where the defendant now sits."
Any one of us can find ourselves in that seat due to a mistake, bad judgment, an accident, or for any number of reasons. What matters is that you have someone by your side to listen and understand your plight without judgment and without criticism, because every person accused should be entitled to effective, aggressive, and compassionate representation.
